What if everything you learned about being confident… was wrong!
Some people think it is a powerful feeling of invincibility
Some think it is just not caring what other people think
Some think it is the feeling that you can overcome any challenge
Some think it is preparing for any possibility of failure
What if that was all wrong?
Over the years I have gone through countless theories of what confidence is, even more looking at ways of attaining that feeling of confidence. Here are a few of the more ridicules.
1. Pretend to be confident.
2. Expect success instead of failure
3. Imagine yourself as a giant leopard and them as small and say your ass is mine!
4. Make lists of your good traits
5. Pump yourself up with 15,000 dollar seminars with fire walks.
6. Empower yourself… whatever that means
7. Find yourself… whatever the hell THAT means!
8. Be positive… Whatever that hell THAT means as well!
9. Practice good posture??? Huh?
10. Be cool? Really?
11. Hypnotize yourself to be confident… Awe come on now!
OK I have to stop there or I am going pee myself laughing. If you want more of this just Google, “How to become confident”. The amount of terrible advice out there is stunning. Most are based on three methods that just don’t work.
1. Overpower any bad feelings with positive good ones
2. Make lists and try to convince yourself you are confident
3. Pretend you are something you are not
None of these work at all because you still have the feelings there that sabotage your confidence. You have not addressed them. You have not changed them. You just did something to get you over a temporary hump.
What if I told you that there was a way for you to actually become more confident in just 30 days?
How? The answer is simple yet you most likely never heard it anywhere before. Your natural confidence is still there. It has always been there. It is just under a giant pile of crap. Remove the crap and release your confidence.
Then there is nothing to pump up, convince you of or try and pretend to be. It is there inside you waiting. It was there the day you were born.
How did this happen to you?
Easy… you learned it. The concept of learned helplessness is a neurological process where your brain learns how to be helpless in certain situation and when certain triggers are present.
A group of students where give a list of anagrams. This was done with 3 words. The first 2 for half the room were unsolvable. By the time they got to the third solvable word that everyone got, most of those who were given the first 2 unsolvable words also failed on the third solvable word.

This is what happened to your confidence. It became a biological pathway in your brain that shortcuts the process so you do not get emotionally hurt by failure. This is why most of the methods of being confident never ever work AND when they fail actually reinforces the learned helplessness.
