First I am going to rant a bit so forgive me in advance.
In a society where nobody loses… nobody learns.
Everyone gets a trophy. No one keeps score anymore because it will hurt someone’s feelings.
Recently a group so college students protested for everyone to get an A.
It has just gotten stupid but… that is not where the real damage is. The real damage is that the subconscious message that is getting sent is that failing is the worst thing that can happen to you.
There is a huge phobia of failing out there that is paralyzing people. You never need to fail and if you do it is the end of the world. Their obvious choice is to stay in their safety bubble and never take any risks. It is just stupid. This does one thing… makes people weaker and weaker. They search the internet to see what they should think and say.
The result is a generation of followers constantly looking for the approval of others. There is no education out there teaching people how to fail and why they need to do it. When they do fail they curl up into the fetal position and become totally helpless. Then their world gets even smaller.
It is such backward stupid thinking that it makes my brain hurt. Your brain stops functioning. You are constantly in fight or flight mode. You can’t solve the simplest of problems. What we have is a society induced phobia of failure. If I had one bit of advice that I would give to people trying to succeed it is this. Go fail.
If you never fail you never learn how to succeed. You never learn that failing does not kill you. You never learn how to learn from failure.
Looking into the black pit of the unknown you don’t know how to fail and what to do next. You get to the end of the road of your experience and then the world drops off into emptiness or nothingness. You have no map of where to go from there but… you know exactly where your comfort zone is so you run back to it.
The ONE New Year’s Resolution you need to make it… FAIL MORE.
