Each day we wake up and our brain begins the task it was designed for….whether we like it or not
Our brains were designed to keep us alive. On the most basic level we are driven by these instincts. We call them the 5 Fs, flight, fight, food, fornicate and freeze. Each one of them is essential to the survival of the human race. Each one of them originate in the reactive part of your brain. There is a great reason for this. When it comes to basic survival thinking will get you killed. To accomplish the most efficient method for doing this the brain evolved an area of the brain that limits the ability for you to think. The connections to that part of the brain are isolated. They do not interact with any other thoughts or processes.
This makes these survival instincts lightening fast.
This also creates problems in the modern world where there are rarely any real life threatening situations. The result is that we have been sensitized for these basic instincts to fire in situations that they were not designed for. Now they kick in when you have to talk to the boss or when you are in traffic. Simple things like asking a stranger for directions triggers a flight response. Not getting your mid day Twinkie triggers a food response. Even something like talking to someone of the opposite sex triggers an intense freeze response.
In the modern world our brains have misapplied some powerful survival skills and they get just as intense a reaction as if we were getting chased through the forest by a bear.
So there we are in bed. Our first thoughts of the day will dictate the direction we go into. Will you think about how much fun your life is going to be today OR will you think about how you are dreading getting out of bed and having to face the world. Those first thoughts are powerful.
Why is your brain doing this to you?
The answer is simple. You brain is designed to keep you alive by predicting. On a simple level it is a prediction machine. You wake up, think about the past and then predict what will happen next based on your past experiences. This worked great when the prediction was… You need Water. Bears are near the watering hole, be careful. This triggered all your senses as you approached the watering hole. You eyes are amped up and sorting for anything that looks like a bear. You nose knows what bears smell like. Your ears listen for any sounds that might be a bear. You body is on full alert and ready for action if you see a bear. Every sense in your body is set to be triggered.
That is how the brain starts working as you wake up in a modern world. If your first thoughts are about how much everyone sucks in the world then your brain will sort for things that suck. Your brain will be ready to trigger any time something even seems like it sucks. Someone gets in front of you in traffic…they suck. A co-worker does not say good morning….they suck. You see someone eating the last cookie…they suck. Someone does not return your phone call right away…they suck. Pretty soon the entire world sucks.
Your brain sets the tone for how you see the world. It begins the sorting even before you are fully awake. In doing so it is working perfectly.
The problem is that it are your own thoughts that are making the world suck. The good news is that you can change how you filter the world.
How?
That is the second part of how the brain evolved. For humans, we began evolving the thinking and rational part of the brain that was not a slave to our reactions. We have the unique ability to create and adapt. That part of the brain is extremely interconnected. Each experience is connected to every other experience so that we can finds way to overcome daily challenges.
It has the ability to draw upon everything we have ever learned and apply it to a single challenge. When you use this part of the brain you can figure out how to change what you are doing in order to get your desired results.
You can change the prediction.
You have to retrain your brain. To do that you have to teach it to adapt before it reacts in situations that are not life threatening. Does this make you life a wonderful dream world? No. The change that happens is simple yet powerful.
There you are laying in bed. You first thought is “Life Sucks”. Not the best way to start the day.
Now imagine this:
You wake up and your first thought is “Life Sucks….but I know I can figure it all out”. This is what happens when you engage the creative and adaptive part of you brain. You move from a reactive filter on the world to a creative processes about the world.
When both parts of your brain work together you think and react instead of just react. You reaction has a direction instead of being a instinctual reflex. You results create new predictions and you life gets better.
This is why when I say that you can have the life that you barely dare dream about, I can say that because I know how to do it. I have done it for myself and for thousands of others all over the world.
The good news…You can have that life too.
We have spent years developing ways to get you the life you deserve and it is revolutionary.
The first step is breaking your of the prison your own thoughts have created. The first step of that is noticing that you have built this prison of thoughts and fears. Notice when you are sabotaging your day by predicting life in an un-resourceful way. Once you notice that your first thoughts in the morning can create anything you want then you can be trained to teach your brain how to change those thoughts.
That is what Total Life Transformation is all about.
