Success is not an accident. Success is having the right mindset
When I was in my 20’s I thought my life sucked. I failed at just about everything I tried. I was a restaurant manager. Hated it. I was a stock broker, hated it. I was a real estate agent, hated it. Hell I even tried Amway, Oh I really hated that. I did construction, I did like it but I hated the people I worked for.
I was dead broke, trashed my credit, and uneducated… Well no formal education.
Finally I put a few things together.
Step one….. survive. If you are surviving you are winning. I did what I had to do. If that meant work Thanksgiving day I did it. If it meant working when I sliced my hands up so bad that I had to tape them up to get through the day, I did it.
It taught me an important lesson… I can handle almost anything that comes along.
Step two… Whatever you do strive to be the best. I don’t care if it is waiting tables, collecting garbage or even teaching persuasion skills. Even if you are not the best, try to be the best and you will succeed.
Step three… do what you say you will do. Even if that means you made a mistake and a bad deal you still honor it. You will do better next time. I have had deals that went bad or I miscalculated. Even if I lost money I still lived up to my promises.
Step four… Stop worrying about what other people think. I have about 2 or maybe 3 people in my life that I give a damn about what they think. The rest can either deal with it or take a hike. This is my life and screw anyone who judges me. I have ti live with who I am and what I do.
Here is what you might not see. I wake up every day unemployed. Zero happens until I make it happen. Even though I have absolutely nothing to sell right now I still take care of our clients.
I have been unemployed each morning since I was 24 years old. No job security. No retirement plan. No weekly pay check. I live on what I can generate and have been doing so a LONG time. Even in this business when others have faded away we are still here kicking ass.
Most people would be terrified of our life but it is normal for us and many other entrepreneurs.
Here is the secret. Follow the 4 steps. Surround yourself with good people and get rid of those who are not so good. Keep doing the right things long enough and it will pay off.
Even if some things are not working out… practice the skills you learned so that you can use them when an opportunity presents itself.
You only lose if you give up.
