Vivid Visualization

If you can't see it you can't have it!!

First, I wanted to mention that there are many books on the subject.  These are all great books and tapes, but unfortunately they don't teach you how to visualize.  Let me explain.  They tell you how to use visualization once you already know how, and they help you expand your abilities that you already have.  None of them that I'm aware of take a person who isn't yet aware of his visualizations, and guide him. It's like taking a primitive man, putting him in front of a TV set and not telling him to hit the on button.  So, if you're already excellent at visualizing and just want a few new ideas these books are great, otherwise you'll need a little more help.

I was talking to a guy who didn't feel he could visualize, and I can understand that. You see, feeling has nothing to do with seeing.  Do you see what I'm saying? : )

First, I'd have all of you guys realize that you do already visualize, even if you haven't noticed, yet.  How do you look in the mirror and know that your hair looks right?  See, if you don't have some idea of how your hair should look, then you could look like Don King one day and that would look fine, and you could look like Crusty the Clown the next.  Oops, I think you might have just made a picture.  If you know what Don King looks like and you hopefully don't want to look like that, you must have a picture of Don King and of yourself in your mind to compare.

After you've learned to visualize, we'll show you the practical applications of using it to get what you want in your life.  For instance, it's not as important to be able to visualize as what you do with it.  In a seminar a couple of years ago, I walked in just in time to get paired up to do the equalizer.  We were doing the exercise and I noticed that the guy just wasn't getting it, so I stopped him to find out what was going on.

I found out that he was watching himself in his pictures and the pictures were small and dark.  So I had him step into  pictures and look through his own eyes...  hearing everything he heard and feeling all the feelings.

When we walked back in the room A friend of mine was laughing  and told me that the reason nobody had wanted to work with the guy was that he had said earlier that he couldn't go into a state unless it was happening right then and there. It was a huge shift because he learned a new way to use his visualization.

Books and tapes are good, but there is no substitute for a seminar.  You need people there to give you feedback, to find out exactly where you need help.  Even after learning to visualize, it's more important how you use it.  It's the difference between having a paintbrush and keeping it in the back of  a drawer or being the next Michelangelo.
