Some of you have long lists and some of you have short lists. This with short lists keep noticing what assets you have. This drill might help you.
Those with long lists, this will clarify you assets. having a bunch of assets is like having a bunch of tools all scattered throughout the house. If you need a hammer you know you have one but now you have to find it. I want to teach you guys how to gather your assets for using them on specific things.
If your car is broken down in the middle of nowhere you want to think about what assets you have that will apply to that situation. Caring for other people might be a great asset but it will not get your car running.
So I want to organize your assets.
1 List your problem solving assets
2 List your social assets
3 List your physical assets
4 List your material assets
5 List your educational assets
6 List other assets
For some of you this will help discover your assets. or other It will organize them so that your mind can more quickly find them.
In the US it is a holiday weekend so I know that some people are going to be busy. So take a day or so to think about this and do it.
If you want to succeed you have to do what you need to do WHEN you need to do it.
Lets get to it!

Journal
Im journaling a list every morning and guessing it will be a list longer than would be appropriate here or is it prefferable that the list is public?
I was also not so clear about physical assetts?
Tom
Perhaps?

OK Tom, this is quite a nice idea. And what I have found really useful is reading the posts from others and thinking, “Oh yeah ! I do that too !”. In other words, it's sometimes useful to be reminded about things that you already know.
It's also interesting to see that some people will put certain assets in a different category to the one that I would use !
Anyways, in the hope that my list may help others too, here's how it looks at the moment ...

Creative
Prone to occasional moments of insight !
Prepared to go against received wisdom if it solves the problem !
A good researcher

Social Assets
==========
Good listener
Sense of humour (I hope)
I can dance
I hope that I can hold a conversation with most people
Some rapport & anchoring skills courtesy of T&K
Desire to be friendly & helpful
Physical Assets
===========
Basically fit (save for dodgy knee referred to before !
Basically healthy
Tall, though when travelling “cattle class” this is not so much fun
Some people seem to think I look OK
Material assets
===========
Car – not pretty but it gets me from A to B
Computer & internet access
Solvent
Educational assets
==============
Some college
NLP training (?)
ES training
“University of Life” training (LOL !
Other assets
=========

Nope no joke. I'm serious. It was a good way for me to see the joy in the shit. Try looking at your problem as an asset. It's one of those 'filter your reality through another', you know, a nice shift in perspective. It's the sense that doesn't make sense. I hope u know don't how to laugh at yourself.
Your 'mistake' was that when you were reading my list, you didn't see it through the lens of an asset. You look at it in face value. Hope ur afraid to be right.
My definition of an asset: It's something you don't tell people about. If you have multiple homes, then you use a company to mask the assets. Further than that you put them in a trust so if someone sues you, then it's hidden so they can't get your assets and you're name isn't attached to it. Ever heard the phrase 'protect your assets'.
My question to all of you posting here is, "How do you know it's an asset?"
Most people protect there real problems because they won't admit them openly. That's way cool to me. The are protecting there problems from getting exposed and having to look at them and deal with them. That's a lot of work to mask an 'asset'. Sometimes to see the truth you have to have a different way of seeing and thinking. And when you see this response you'll still deny it and think i'm wrong and you're right, i am wrong. HA ha
What I see a lot of people posting here are liabilities.
Inspired from Tao-tö king (Lao-Tseu)
“To remain whole, be twisted!”
To become straight, let yourself be bent.
To become full, be hollow.
Be tattered, that you may be renewed.
Those that have little, may get more,
Those that have much, are but perplexed.
Therefore the Sage
Clasps the Primal Unity,
Testing by it everything under heaven.
He does not show himself; therefore he seen everywhere.
He does not define himself, therefore he is distinct.
He does not boast of what he will do, therefore he succeeds.
He is not proud of his work, and therefore it endures.
He does not contend,
And for that very reason no one under heaven can contend with him.
So then we see that the ancient saying “To remain whole, be twisted!” was no idle word; for true wholeness can only be achieved by return.
He who tiptoes cannot stand; he who strides cannot walk.
He who shows himself is not conspicuous;
He who considers himself right is not illustrious;
He who brags will have no merit;
He who boasts will not endure.
From the point of view of the way these are 'excessive food and useless excrescences'.
As there are Things that detest them, he who has the way does not abide in them.
If you would have a thing shrink,
You must first stretch it;
If you would have a thing weakened,
You must first strengthen it;
If you would have a thing laid aside,
You must first set it up;
If you would take from a thing,
You must first give to it.
This is called subtle discernment:
The submissive and weak will overcome the hard and strong.

Well I guess this Challenge is not going to help you very much. If you do not want to publically list yout assets then that is fine. WHat we need here is for you to realize and catagorize what you skills, connectios, personality traits and other assets you have that you think help you do productive tasks.
This is a common problem that some people use to AVOID really looking at themselves. They change the task and then do what they feel like doing. Even though it had NEVER worked. That way they can stay stuck and wallow in self pity BUT....feel that they deserve to do so.
If you want to reall participate in this then fine. If not then that is your choice. If you just want to make light of what we are doing here and just want to fuck around then I would ask you to quit wasting my time.
Frankly this is not a joke to me. I am serious about helping people. That starts by examining what you have and what stops you. If you want to participate in that then fine. If you are just going to list bullshit answers then leave. I have too many people here who really do want to succeed.
You know what I mean by assets. Now make a REAL list.
